This permanent position is with a very profitable privately-owned company.

Essential Job Functions: This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. The Accounting Manager may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

Manage the general ledger, consolidations, accounts payable and payroll functions
Oversee the general financial close process, the preparation of the monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules on a timely basis.
Review account reconciliations, supporting schedules and financial statements and be able to understand and explain all accounts under area of responsibility
Research and document technical accounting issues and apply GAAP in business context.
Be instrumental in streamline close process and other accounting process flows.
Develop finance policies and assist in the effort to become Sarbanes-Oxley compliant, which will entail preparing process documentation, developing internal controls, as well as planning and implementing a project plan.
Own and update accounting close and other processes and financial policies that impact the internal control environment.
Play a key role in special projects and other assignments as required.
Manage and mentor staff.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
Requires proficiency in ERP and Excel.
Must be detail oriented, customer oriented, and possess excellent analytical abilities.
Must be strong team player and have an excellent work ethic.
Must have thorough knowledge of general accounting principles and their application, as well as a demonstrated ability to apply these in the business context.
FAS 52 knowledge and experience a plus.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
Combined 6-10 years work experience in public accounting and in the financial industry.
CPA a plus.
Big 4 experience a plus.
Proven management experience.

There may be some business travel.
